Service area pages that do not get you flagged for doorway content

Leaddino.com Editorial·June 30, 2026·6 min read

The line between a service-area page that ranks and a doorway page that gets you penalized is thinner than you think.

What Google calls a doorway

A doorway page is one created solely to capture search, with no unique value — the same content repeated across cities with only the location swapped. Google has cracked down on these for years, and AI-generated city pages are the new doorway.

The test is simple: if you removed the city name, would the page still be useful? If the answer is no, it is a doorway.

What a real service-area page contains

Specific jobs you have done in that town, with the neighborhood and scope. The drive time from your yard. The weather or seasonal context that matters there. The permits or codes that differ. A unique set of reviews from customers in that area.

None of that can be templated. It has to be real — which is exactly why it ranks.

The sustainable ratio

Most operators can sustain one genuinely useful service-area page per town per month. That pace feels slow and it is the fastest sustainable path to the top of the map.

Put it into practice.
